Career opportunities and placement assistance

PGPSM prepares participants for a wide range of roles across startups, high-growth businesses and the startup ecosystem. Career pathways span the Founder's Office, Product Management, Growth and Marketing, Strategy, Sales, Business Development and Operations, as well as opportunities with venture capital firms, incubators and accelerators.

Working in an early-stage or high-growth venture offers a distinctive career experience. Team members often work closely with founders, take ownership of high-impact projects, contribute to important business decisions and gain cross-functional exposure early in their careers. As ventures grow, these roles can also provide opportunities for accelerated responsibility, leadership and, in some cases, participation in long-term value creation through employee equity.

Career opportunities and placement assistance

Career preparation is integrated into the PGPSM learning experience. Participants work on real startup challenges, interact with founders and practitioners, and develop capabilities directly relevant to operating in environments characterised by growth, experimentation and uncertainty.

The programme is powered by the SPJIMR WISE Tech startup ecosystem, which engages with 1,000+ startups annually through the WISE Tech India Pitchathon, alongside its accelerator programmes and other venture-building initiatives. This provides participants access to a growing network of startups, founders, investors and ecosystem partners. Ventures from this network will also be invited to participate in the programme's placement assistance process, enabling participants to explore live opportunities aligned with their interests and capabilities.

Whether the ambition is to build a career in a high-growth startup, work alongside founders, become a product or innovation leader, enter the venture ecosystem, or eventually build a venture of their own, PGPSM provides a pathway into India's dynamic startup economy.

At the heart of this ecosystem is the WISE Tech India Pitchathon, one of India's largest impact startup discovery initiatives. Every year, over 1,000 startups participate from across the country, representing sectors including Artificial Intelligence, DeepTech, Climate Tech, FinTech, HealthTech, Electric Mobility, Agritech, Sustainability, Education, Manufacturing, Enterprise Technology, and several other emerging industries.

Many of the most promising ventures continue their entrepreneurial journey through the nine-month WISE Tech Accelerator, where founders work closely with mentors, investors, and venture specialists to strengthen customer discovery, strategy, product-market fit, investor readiness, and growth. Over the past five cohorts, the Accelerator has worked with startups such as Shunya Agritech, which is transforming dairy nutrition through science and technology; Drona Pay, a real-time fraud detection platform serving banks and fintechs; and EasyFix, a technology-enabled enterprise repair and maintenance platform operating across India. These ventures represent the diversity and ambition of the WISE Tech ecosystem. Several have gone on to raise institutional capital, expand nationally, and build leading businesses, demonstrating how strategic clarity can translate into sustainable growth.

For PGPSM students, this ecosystem is a unique opportunity to interact with some of India's most promising founders long before they become tomorrow's success stories. These are not distant case studies from Silicon Valley or companies built years ago, they are ventures being built today, founders making critical decisions in real time, and organisations that students may ultimately choose to build their careers with.
